Urban green spaces on former mining land are increasingly important for conserving biodiversity, yet their ecological condition is rarely assessed quantitatively at the zone level. This study evaluated the ecological condition of the Banjarbaru City Biodiversity Park (Taman KEHATI), a 17.92-hectare park comprising five zones—Rimba, Buah, Kerukan, Hidrologi, and Arboretum—by analysing vegetation structure and composition alongside soil organic carbon and instantaneous microclimate, and by comparing conditions among zones. Purposive stratified sampling at 5% intensity established eleven nested-quadrat plots; diversity was measured with the Shannon-Wiener index (H'), differences among zones were tested using the Kruskal-Wallis test with epsilon-squared effect sizes, and Spearman correlation linked diversity to environmental parameters. Diversity was low to moderate (H' 0.00–2.40), with no zone reaching the high category, and soil organic carbon (0.61–1.81%) was the strongest correlate of diversity (rs = 0.700). Although inter-zone differences were not statistically significant, their effect sizes were large (ε² = 0.281), and the zones formed a consistent disturbance–recovery gradient that provides an evidence base for adaptive, zone-specific management.
